Description: The Logitech Elite features Multimedia/Internet keys, along with Extended Function keys, a scroll wheel and a Suspend button.

Unfortunately you must do alot of the key programing yourself because the Logitech software does not support Linux.

The newer versions of XFree86 have a keyboard which is nearly identical you can select through KDE, it's called the Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard.

To setup the keyboard for XFree86 add a line like this to the XF86Config-4 file in the Keyboard section.

Option "XkbModel" "logiink"

Also there is a thread here at LQ where I explain how to program the keys for KDE, and how to add the keys that are missing from the XFree86 keyboard mapping.

Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid? (in USD): $28.00 | Rating: 6

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.3-rc1
Distribution: Somewhere between Mandrake 9.2 and 10-rc2

I give it a 6 because it does work right out of the box as a basic keyboard, but if you want to use the extra keys in Linux you'll have to do a lot of work and some googling.

<Edit> The thread to help you setup this keyboard. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125333

Also I said the XFree86 keyboard was the Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard but actually the keyboard layout most close to the Elite is the Logitech Cordless Desktop Navigator which would require this entry in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Option "XkbModel" "logicdn"

Works quite well, the multimedia buttons are just a pain.

You can find a fix to kill the F-Lock at this post:

Works great out of the box. To get the multimedia keys working, I recommend using keyTouch. http://keytouch.sourceforge.net/
