Description:
|
This is the original AGP ATI All in Wonder Radeon with 32mb RAM, RageTheatre TV Tuner and TV out (s-video).
It worked fine with 3D acceleration out of the box on a Mandrake 9.1 system running XFree86 4.3
The only problems I have found is that the TV Tuner absolutely does not work, even after downloading and installing brand new GATOS ATI.2 drivers, AVView, XawTV etc...
The TV Tuner also does not appear to be supported by the kernel and drakxTV will not recognize it.

All I get out of it is a 3D graphics card. None of the "All-In-Wonder" features work for me. I've tried everything I know to try (e.g. GATOS) and still no tv-input or video input/capture.

This card is barely compatible with Linux, I put the original entry up, but since then I have had many problems.
I could not get any of the TV-Tuner, TV-out etc... features to work, I had to re-compile a driver to even get 3D to work...
I tried installing all the new ATI drivers from GATOS etc... and nothing worked. Not only that but it made my system unstable, when I tried to "logout" "restart" or "shutdown" from inside X-Windows the whole thing would freeze, I mean really freeze, neither CTL-ALT-DEL or CTL-backspace worked... I had to do a hard reboot, and then my files were all screwed and had to fsck every reboot. Nasty. The only thing I could do was exit X-Windows by CTL-Backspace and reboot/shutdown from console.
But forget that, I ripped the card out and put my old one back (ATI Rage Fury Pro. r128) and all my problems dissappeared.
I would not recommend this card to anyone.

I have the 8500 version... As posted already, it works out of the box with 3D support in FC2-T1, but, no TV support at all.
I tried the latest drivers ftom ATI's site, no dice on the TV tuner.
Anyone want to trade if for an equivalent NVidia card?

Graphics work OK.
TV doesn't work at all.
Works equally poorly in Windows!

I'm still having trouble getting this card to work right. As others have said, the tuner is essentially useless under Linux. What's worse is I still can't get 3D hardware acceleration working.

I cannot get the 3-D accleration nor the TV tuner to work on my Radeon 8500 AIW. I haven't tried the proprietary drivers yet, as I read that it caused havoc in some systems.
Otherwise, it makes a nice graphics card.
