Basically, you have to go to http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/release.html and follow the instructions there.
You have to load the pwc module, but with power_save=1 (modprobe pwc power_save=1) and also pwcx.
When i installed the camera, there was only a compiled module of pwcx for kernel 2.4.23, so when loading the module, you have to force it (insmod pwcx --force)
Then cam works pretty good.
For enabling the microphone, you need to compile USB audio in the kernel.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.4, 2.6.5
Distribution: Debian

Just tried the above directions with 2.6.4 and 2.6.5. When I load the pwc and pwcx drivers it looks good. When I try to run "motion" I get this:

pwc Frame buffer overflow (flen = 582, frame_total_size = 76812).
pwc Frame buffer overflow (flen = 582, frame_total_size = 76812).

If I try to run "camstream" it hangs that window and the process won't die, requires a full reboot.

Had a few problems with this webcam myself, took me awhile to get it to work. Heres what I did:
Code:
locate pwc.ko
sudo rm <path to files above>
wget http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/files/pwc-10.0.7a.tar.bz2
tar xjf pwc-10.0.7a.tar.bz2
cd pwc-10.0.7a
make
sudo make install
rmmod pwc pwcx
depmod -a
modprobe pwc power_save=1
(http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc)

Then just open up your favourite cam viewing program (eg. camstream, xawtv).
