I also agree that this is an excellent NIC. It powers a couple of servers at work mostly based on Debian/GNU Linux and a special patched kernel!

the s82557 pro/100B is the one to avoid. i've had little luck previously, though a relatively recent install on an older p200 ru430hx w/ it installed works fine w/ slackware 9.1. from what i know, the newer eepro 100 is good, and it's best to avoid the s82557 chipset 'B' version. do a google search, and you'll see there are problems w/ the 'B' version.

Hi guys! I'm having some trouble to make work my linux box with two ethernet interfaces, one it's ok, when I just use it I can access the internet, everything! But when I active the second interface (vi /etc/network/interfaces && /etc/init.d/networking restart) I can't access the internet anymore!
Some one know what is happening!
thanks!
André

Works fine with the built-in kernel module. Slackware automatically detected the card during the network configuration part of setup. I've never had any problems with it, once I figured out how to get networking to work. But that was my fault, nothing with the card or Linux. All in all, it works great.

Everything worked fine right out of the box. The device was detected and setup during installation. Always activates fine during bootup; no problems at all.

Works beautifully. This card is directly supported in the kernel, and I've never had a problem with it.
