the rtl8150 driver was already compiled into my kernel, so it worked right away.

It is detected in the boot sequence after my system tries dhcp, so I set my network to configure as loopback only, and then I added this to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

dhcpcd -d -t 2

the -t 2 is necessary becuause if you don't have it plugged in, dhcpcd will scan for 60 sec, a big holdup!

I bought this at CompUSA.

Allegedly, the Linksys USB100M is almost exactly the same: http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=1095
