Description:
|
This came with windows 8 and Secure boot. Let's split this:
windows 8: To get windows 8 on a box, the manufacturer has to implement uefi in a way which stops users from adding dual boot as of end 2012. It had 6 partitions on gpt. If the disk is formatted GPT, you have secure boot - period.
I inserted an ssd, parked the hd, and formatted mbr. Then I could use legacy os and have the secure boot off.
PC Itself: Nice - I like the 17.3" 1600x900 screen, bios handles suspend/hibernate, Intel hd4000 graphics (enough for me), I3-3110 is good, wifi also painless. SD reader keeps sdb and is read only so far. Touchpad very touchy and you are best keeping the mouse pointer off the area you are typing or it jumps. Otherwise, fine. And that comes from someone not inclined to praise. I like the bios option to limit charging to 80%, (battery life) and the simple close it to suspend.
