Kernel (uname -r):

Distribution:

kubuntu 12.04 LTS Live CD

This is a popular low-end desktop board for Dual Core / Core 2 processors.
Price:
Purchased as CPU + mobo combo for USD 110 - CPU being Pentium G620 (commonly called 2nd generation dual core processor)
4GB DDR3 RAM cost $25 extra.
Cons:
No IDE and no PCI slots
Pros:
Cheap, good enough graphics.
Distros that work:
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin, Kubuntu 12.04 LTS, both work fine from live CD.
Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04, 11.10 Live CDs do not recognise the LAN (If they do with some hacks, I dont know about that)
Some Revisions of this board come with Atheros LAN and some(like Rev 2.2) with Realtek ("RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)")
However even the Realtek LAN is not recognised by Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04, 11.10.
Puppy Linux 5.25 recognises LAN as well, but doesnt configure sound out of the box. (Note that Puppy runs as root - which is not comfortable idea to most people)
Debian 6.0.4 KDE Live DVD also recognises LAN, but no sound by default.
