Description: HP All-in-one printer. (Color & BW printer, scanner, copier and fax). Though the box only says HP Officejet 4500, Linux Mint recognizes it as an HP Officejet 4500 G510a-f.

Unlike other Officejet 4500 devices I've seen reviewed, this one doesn't have wireless connectivity, only USB connection. Both, printing and scanning work flawlessly on Linux (tested on a Linux Mint 12 machine, with kernel 3.0.0). The scanning function was tested from KDE with a software named AcquireImages. The copy and fax functions work directly from the device itself.

Recommended product.

Another piece of information about this printer that might be useful for some people is that the ink cartridges are small and hence they don't last too long. I was not aware of the short duration of the cartridges when I wrote the above review. It's fine if you do occasional printing, but if you do heavy printing, maybe it's better to find a printer with bigger cartridges. Other than that, this device works perfectly on Linux.
