Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid? (in USD): $1,200.00 | Rating: 9

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.38.6-27.fc15.x86_64
Distribution: Fedora 15

This notebook works out of the box with all necessary functionality in Fedora 15.
CPU: Detects 4 cores (2 with Hyper threading)
MEM: Detects just shy of 4GiB (some is reserved for the graphics when not in Optimus mode)
Wifi: Recognizes and connects to networks (Tested G only)
LAN: Recognizes and connects to network
USB: Recognizes (not USB 3.0)
SD/SDHC: Not tested at this time.
Trackpad/Trackpoint: Works with no configuration necessary

Audio soft keys work (except mic mute)
Brightness softkeys work
Sleep key ([FN]+[F4]) works but other soft keys do not.
Wireless disable switch (physical) works (on and off again)

System supports VT-X and VT-D (enabled in BIOS)

Outputs include e-SATA/USB combo, VGA, Display Port, 3x USB

I highly recommend this product as a professional level notebook, it has the capability to handle up to 8GiB memory and support running virtual machines.

Out of the box it works well with Fedora.

Cons:
- Default hard drive is a slim drive and adding a regular hard drive you will have to replace the plastic rails it mounts in (they are just friction fit around the drive, I used paper folded over 4 times and cut to resemble the rails).
- Keyboard is louder than expected - but not too bad
- Trackpad is textured and has no defined texture for the side scroll feature
- Trackpad is also level with wrist rest and easy to touch the pad when attempting to press the buttons.
- Battery rattles a little when being carried - quality is not that of the older IBM Thinkpads but still higher than most other notebooks.

Side note: purchase from Lenovo directly using visa discount (Google search: "Visa Lenovo") for a better deal. Shipping is included (Continental USA) and arrived within 14 days of ordering.
