Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.37-2.slh.3-aptosid-amd64
Distribution: Aptosid

A typical asus mircoATX 'corporate'/budget board, socket 939, finished in asus 'gold'/brown.

I got this board 2nd hand when someone upgraded due to hardware troube, the onboard video had died (it still sort of works, but its badly corrupted, will only run for a few minutes then just freezes, so obviously bad).

It runs fine with a standalone video card.

The system was just over 3 years old, typically the hardware problems happened just after the warranty period was up. It didnt have a hard life either, it was used only for websurfing/emailing and very light gaming.

For that reason, I'm giving it a score of 3/10, and will not recommend it. Hardware should last longer than 3 years in my opinion.

At least the price was good (free!)

Aside from that, its not that bad. No issues with the hardware aside from the onboard video. Audio, LAN and USB run without issues. The floppy drive and firewire have not been tested by me, I dont have any firewire devices to test with. Currently its running kernel 2.6.37, but I've used the same board with earlier kernels with no problems or need for manual driver installation.

Kernel (uname -r): 3.0.4
Distribution: Ubuntu,Debian,ArchLinux,CentOS,OpenSolaris,OpenBSD and so on

I'm very happy with this motherboard because work with everything.
I tried it with many distro and even with BSD system and OpenSolaris. (But on the BSD system and OpenSolaris i haven't tried the sound).
The only annoying part is that often on the past (a little less with new distro) the correct resolution of my screen isn't taken automatically so i should fix it later with hand made adjustment on xorg.conf.
Essentially on the Section Monitor i add HorizSync and VertRefresh.
However i use VESA and i haven't tested the DVI or the FireWire connection.
I give a rating of 10, despite some small issue, because i can run everything on this motherboard, but clearly, this is a very old motherboard so, from only this point of view, it's much better look for something more modern.
So despite i give 10 i don't recommend buy now this product.
Now exist better new products, better CPU and more energy efficient.

Note:
On board Sound information about this motherboard using ALSA Information Script v 0.4.60 from my system are available here.
In this moment i'm on a Debian Squeeze 32 bit with a custom 3.0.4 kernel.
