Description: Older HP printers, the 710 and 712 are both supported by linux using the pnm2ppa driver availible from linuxprinting.org. There is also some useful tips availible there to help set it up.

NOTE: Be sure to UNCHECK "Fast printing" if using lprng. This will not allow the printer to print ASCI, only PS.

Works with some configuration. I used cups and you do have to use the pnm2ppa driver. I'll post a final configuration once I set it up again, been a while since I used mine.

Distribution: FC4, Debian Etch


Used for several years now, never had a problem. Just make sure that you install pnm2ppa, or CUPS will claim that it printd, and that the world is a happy place, but nothing will happen with the printer.

All of the features work. (fast printing, bi-directional printing, gamma-correction, etc...)
