B&W print speed is between 10 & 15 pages/minute & colour is 3 to 6 p/min. With four heads, print quality & colour rendition is much better than the standard 2 cartridge inkjets. Having separate print heads and ink makes to cheaper to run, as you only need to replace one cartridge at a time. The black cartridges are larger.

My printer has a JetDirect J4169A card, but any of the 600N series will work. The differences are in speed and protocol. Setting up via YaST or CUPS was quite simple, though you should set the printer to "unpublished" in CUPS, otherwise it can show up twice on the network - once direct, and once via a published "share" on another computer.

The only probem I had was that the HPLIP hpijs drivers don't work - the printer hangs up after the first job, and needs to be power cycled before it will print again. I use the Foomatic/chp2200 ppd and that works fine.

The printer was refurbished, and apart from the driver problem, the only trouble it has given me is that the paper pickup is beginning to wear, and it sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to start a print job.

Very good printer for the small business or home office.
