Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid? (in USD): $120.00 | Rating: 9

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.27-11-generic
Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10

The View is like an enlarged version of an apple nano, with bigger screen and bigger body. It also has a wheel with a central button (similar to ipods) plus a home button used to go backwards in menus.

The interface is clear, simple and effective. Only downsides: its difficult to scan through a song because when you keep pressed left por right it just makes small 5 seconds or 10 seconds jumps. Everything else is great.
another small glitch is in the fact that this player likes id3v2.3 tags (for mp3 tagging) so if you have tunes with id3v2.4 then theyll end up as unknown artist/unknown album. This can be rectified with a software called EasyTag.

This is a great mp3 player that works flawlessly with mac, win, or linux of course. It just works through dragndrop, and can read most file formats (see here).
Just be advised that it's a bit fussy when it comes to video format.

Sandisk provides a video converter for windows, but better still it would be to use handbrake using these settings.

Sansa view also has a microsd slot, which can be handy!
