works with Ubuntu, mounted in /media when a disk/card is actually inserted in the unit. Sakar unfortunately said the unit would not work. fortunately, they were wrong :) enjoy.

I bought this reader at OfficeMax. When I first tried it, Ubuntu would see the device but not any cards plugged into it. Then I tried a different USB cable as suggested by a review at radioshack.com for a similar Sakar product. After that, it worked great. My guess is that most negative reviews are due to the cable.

Note that if you have more than one card plugged into the reader at the same time, then none of them show up.

PROS:
- Inexpensive.
- Compact.

CONS:
- Included USB cable is bad.
