I got this notebook about four years ago (2004). I immediately added 512MB RAM to 768MB, because 256MB was not enough with 64MB being shared with the video card. I recently upgraded again with another 1GB to 1.5GB, and swapped the 40GB harddrive for a 120GB. I also had to resolder the DC jack which has pulled loose from the mobo, and the display is getting a little loose.
With the extra space from the upgrades I thought I'd give Linux a try.
I am currently running Slackware 12.1, and posting via the Broadcom BCM4306 (rev 03) wireless. I am running the native b43 driver (http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43) and wpa_supplicant.
Everything seems to be working out of the box, except for the scroller on the touchpad, and the volume buttons on the front. I'm sure I just need to find out how to configure them.
