Plugged in and was recognised immediately. A bit of tweaking of permissions with cdrecord and burnt my first disc of mp3's in a couple of minutes at just less than max write speed.
Covers all formats from CD-R(W) right through to Dual/Double Layer discs.
DVD+R 22x
DVD-R 22x
DVD+RW 8x
DVD-RW 6x
DVD-RAM 12x
DVD+R DL 16x
DVD-R DL 12x
CD-R 48x
CD-RW 32x
With the problems I have had in the past with writers not working properly/consistently I was very happy when this worked straight out of the box.
