It took me about an hour to get it working. I followed the following guides to make it work:

http://mp610.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-sane-scanner-driver-for-canon-mp610.html <- this is for sane-backends to update the pixma backend to support the mp210
The quality of the prints is top notch, cups recognized it right away after following the first link. If you need an all in one I highly suggest this one based on its low price and surprising ease in getting it working.
