For the first time in my life, a webcam that works with Linux and is being sold in stores!

Installation is easy (duh, it's USB). As for configuration, however, you have to change the generic kernel configuration so that it's using Video 4 Linux 2, not the depreciated version 1. This means recompiling. Then install linux-uvc package from alienBOB's website.

Skype works great! (also from a package by alienBOB). The video and the audio both work on this device without any tweaking. It's truly amazing!

I'd definitely recommend this thing. It's 2 megapixel and fast. AlienBOB rocks!

Works well. Autofocus doesn't seem to work (maybe I should try recompiling my kernel) and the zoom/tracking software included in the Windows Quickcam package is (obviously) missing.
The tracking software is not missed though, it is just a toy for me.

Overall I am pleased with this product and the much appreciated support for it.

bought this webcam because i wanted full compatibility under linux and i also wanted to record some videos. the cam works perfect, along with the built in microphone. it is uvc (usb video class) compliant and literally plug and play. i can use it in emesene or amsn, or with video editing and capturing software. highly recommended.
