The SuperTrak EX8654 is a hardware-based RAID controllers that support both 3Gbps SATA & SAS connectivity. The cool thing is that it can scale with internal 4 ports plus ability to connect to an JBOD via the external SAS connector.

OS Support: Windows, Linux, and VMware support.
Linux: Open Source Linux and support in the box compatibility with anything kernels 2.6.19 and above.
