Description:
Sakar's Digital Concepts 21-in-1 Card Reader/Writer, Item# CR-70R, V506, features (this is what was listed on the packaging):
-- 3 year warranty
-- easy plug & play installation
-- high speed data transfer (up to 900kbps)
-- perfect for people on the go
-- compact, with removable USB cable
-- Mac & PC compatible
-- It worked for me on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon
This card reader/writer is built for use with the following memory cards:
CF-TypeI, CF-TypeII, CF-UltraII, Microdrive, SD, SD-Ultra, SDC, Mini SD, MMC, HS-MMC, RS-MMC, MS, MS(MG), MS-Pro, HS-MS-Pro, MS Duo, MS-Pro Duo, HS-MS-Pro Duo, SM, XD, T-Flash
I was surprised this worked without a hitch. I didn't have to download any drivers or anything. I just plugged it in, and inserted the Smart Card from my camera. I was very quickly able to see an icon for the device on my desktop. (Note: I do not see a desktop icon, unless I have a card inserted into the device, but I think that works best for me!)
It is so small and lightweight, and the USB cable which comes packaged with it is a bit over 20 inches long, including the plug ends -- perfect for me. There is a light on the device which simply indicates that it is plugged in to the USB port. There are four different sized slots on the front of the device, but it says on the packaging that it accomodates 21 different types of cards. I have only used it with 2 types of cards myself: a SmartMedia 1D 16MB Memory Card, and a Toshiba 1.0 GB SD Memory Card; it works great with those. I would buy this device again!
