Description:
|
This is the 'new & improved' version of the C88 (products essentially identical), with all but one bug worked out--printout is skewed clockwise by about 1/64" (2mm); undetectable for most work. Good photo-printing at premium glossy on photo grade media. Uses the standard gutenprint and cups with deskprinter apps for most linux installs, via LP or USB port; tested on Fedora 6 Gnome desktop.
Pros: Quiet, fast, good clean printouts, less than 5 minutes from the box to operation. Gnome printer configuration provides ample (working) support variety.
Cons: Price about 78 USD, cartridges (ALL 4 must be installed and usable), the skewed orientation, slight photo print color-fade, USB and LP cables not included.

update: if you use the Ubuntu gutenprint gui, and select Epson Stylus, C88, gutenprint.5.0://escp2-c88/expert/C the skewing (under Fedora) is eliminated, and you get several more print options as well, including a graphics inklevel usage and printer status app you can load from synaptic. Awesome.
