All chipsets on the board are fully supported by opensuse 10.2. The only issue is that the sound output is relatively quiet - enough for headphones but not enough to send to a hi-fi / speakers.

This Motherboard is not without problems at least in the Linux world when attempting to use bt8x8 based video capture cards.

Jury's in, and they were deliberating for a couple of weeks while a lot of testing was conducted. There is definitely a problem with the MSI K9N SLI Platinum v1.1 and v1.2 motherboard. This motherboard will not work with either a Bluecherry PV-149 PCI video capture card or a Bluecherry PV-981 PCIe video capture card or a ATI PCI TV Wonder card, bt8x8 based cards.

The Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe which might as well be a clone of the MSI board, uses the same nVidia nForce 570 SLI MCP 55 chipsets but the Asus board does not lock up when a bt8x8 based board is installed.

I currently have the Bluecherry PV-981 video capture card installed in the Asus MB, I did a full SuSE 10.2 x86_64 install with no problems which never would complete with the MSI MB.

So, make note, it appears bt8x8 based video capture cards are not compatible with the MSI K9N SLI Platinum motherboard. If it's not a physical hardware design issue on the MSI MB maybe a BIOS updated might fix it in the future but with 1.6 or the current 1.8 versions of the MB BIOS bt8x8 based video cards appear not to work with this MSI MB.

Oh and the problem is not with just SuSE 10.2, all of the following also had the problem:

SuSE 10.1 x86_64
SuSE 10.2 x86_64
SuSE 10.2 i386
SuSE 10.3 Beta 2 x86_64
Fedora 7

can attest to bt8x8 lockup under the Ubuntu based MINT distro. But otherwise a great board.
