Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.15-28-686
Distribution: ubuntu 6.06

1. attach usb camera
2. launch gtkam
3. tell it to scan for new cams
4. it will show you the camera as "USB PTP Class Camera"

I don't know if I'm supposed to use the thing like that, so I will buy a $7 sd card reader, which hopefully will work :)

anyway, I was able to transfer pictures to the PC with no problem (knock on wood).

cons: LCD not vari-angle like that of G6; doesn't save RAW; maximum aperture 2.8

Important Note: Canon ignores Linux as an operating system. No support, no programs etc.
