Description:

From the logitech website:
Full-speed USB at 500 reports/second, for precision at any speed.
2000 dpi gaming-grade laser engine; the highest-performance laser sensor for lightning-fast moves.*
Built for long gaming sessions, with its ultra-light design and DryGrip technology.
Precise fingertip control design; compact, ambidextrous design for quick wrist movements.
Sensitivity switching on-the-fly; one-button instant switching between two sensitivity levels—800 dpi and 1600 dpi—before driver installation.
Polytetrafluoroethylene gaming feet; low-friction feet for a super-smooth glide.
My description:
It's a very smooth and precise mouse. The speed is quite high by default, but the mouse is so accurate that it's not difficult to use once you get used to it.
The mouse uses (presumably) the 800-dpi setting by default, and without any extra drivers the button on top switches between 800 and 1600 dpi - so that works fine on linux. So far I haven't really found the higher speed or speed adjustment useful, but anyway I can say that this is a very nice mouse that works well under linux.
The button used for switching speeds isn't reported by the kernel driver, so it isn't usable as an ordinary button (besides it's not that easy to press when holding the mouse normally), but that still leaves 5 buttons and the wheel.
