Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.12
Distribution: Mandriva 2006 free

K3b setting made buffer 2M

2) first dvd burner so seems slow to access blank discs but I did a copy of a 3.9G dvd in 13 minutes which I consider fast as my cd burns took about 3 minutes for 700 Megs.

3) here is a link to a firmware site but as a new model (ish) still no updates
http://www.pioneer.com.au/computer/firmware.html

beaware if you are new to this to use ONLY the correct update and not try the cousin 110 firmware.

do any update at your own risk and for a reason please.

australian mags recommended the pioneer and Mandriva detected it easy.....its an internal atapi ribbon/cable connection.

available in blk or beige face

Works fine; just plugged it in and fired up k3b. Burns fast and consistently but remember to make sure dma is on (as with all burners). In debian su; apt-get install hdparm; hdparm -d1 /dev/dvd (or your dvd device)
