G7 optical laser gaming mouse. Very nice! The mouse has a 2000dpi resolution in hardware, which means that right out of the box it can run at 2000dpi on your *nix box. It also supports changing the resolution on the fly in hardware. A couple of buttons allow you to switch out to 800dpi or 400dpi on the fly, and in hardware.
the only advantage you might lose by not using windows with this mouse is that you can customize what the other levels of resolution would be, but i dont really find that a problem in this case...
comes with 2 batteries. there is also a charger that will run off the usb bus, so you can charge one battery while you are using the other. there is a small usb dongle that acts as the 2.4 gHz radio receiver, which can be plugged into the charging base, or any usb (preferably 2.0) slot.
had it for a couple of days now, and it is fast, smooth, and just what the doctor ordered for linux gamers!
