Description: Model is NOT Linux-compatible

This printer uses exclusively Windows-specific drivers (i.e. it's a "winprinter"). The page images (both graphics and text) are rendered within Panasonic's proprietary Windows software. I did an exhaustive driver search and was unable to arrive at a workable solution under any distro of Linux.

I tried to get this printer work, but no luck yet. On openprinting a user reports that KX-P7105 is perfectly compatible with the HP LaserJet 5100 driver. Please note that KX-P7100 and KX-P7105 are quite different, at least on the resolution side (specifications). Here I cannot get KX-P7100 working this way. Most similar driver would be "HP LaserJet 1100 Foomatic/ljet4 (recommended)", but it doesn't make it work (not through samba, at least).

Distribution: Xandros 4.5 OCE and Solaris 10 x86 (u6)

I use the KX-P7110, a network laser printer. Use the Generic PCL 5e ppd with foomatic and cups for Solaris 10 x86 printing.

For Xandros, use generic PCL 5 with foomatic and gutenprint.
