This is a Sony Vaio FB530. It comes with a 250GB SATA
hard rive, integrated graphics (Intel HD). It has onboard sound as well as integrated networking. Onboard sound did not work in Mandrake 10.1,does work from 10.2 onward.
I installed a sounblaster 5.1, and. using Alsaconfig it works great. The IEEE 1394 did not work under Fedora core 4, did work on core 3. Under Mandriva 2005 LE as well as 2006 everything works perfectly, except the multimedia keys on the Sony keyboard. The hard drive (a Maxtor) did go sour after 10 months. Sony promptly shipped a WD as a replacement. KDETV does have problems when using an SMP kernel. TV Time works perfectly. This is true with a Leadtek as well as an ATI ve or ATI pro tuner/capture card.
