Kernel (uname -r):
2.6.17-1.2142_FC4
Distribution:
fedora core 3
Excellent toy. Almost everything works fine. When installing FC4 sound was missing while in FC3 was fine. Better install FC3 and upgrade to FC4. The other (Ubuntu 5.10, Suse 9.1, and many live distros) work also fine. Both hibernation and suspension work fine but sound is missing after wake up. Quality of display is impressive after 6 years of using. It will be difficult to say bye bye to her, I use also come other boxes.
Picked up this little lappy for my backup production unit. Install went smooth.
video: slight video artifacts cleaned up by reducing color depth to 16 bpp
synaptic software manager: as with any package mgr, always refresh or reload repos before attempting to d/l anything
playing DVDs: necessary codecs available via synaptic
ethernet: 3Com Corporation 3c556B CardBus [Tornado] (rev 20) works fine. If you want network monitor applet (net_applet) in panel then needs /root/.net_applet set to AUTOSTART=TRUE
TP acpi stuff (sensors/hibernate/suspend): not checked yet
modem: not checked
suspend on lid close: not checked
shutdown: hung at "unmounting loopback". Fixed by upgrading acpid via synaptic.
backlight works
TP keypad volume controls work (vol up/vol dwn/mute)
ultrabay feature nice
Sound CS 46xx module properly ID and loaded. speakers so-so. headphone audio quality very nice.
serial port toggle accessible thru BIOS. Nice feature for serial port hdwr modem if you can't get the winmodem working
