to make it work just use spca50x
http://spca50x.sourceforge.net/spca50x.php

on gentoo:
enable video for linux on kernel... v4l
then:
emerge spca5xx
modprobe spca50x [or add it to: /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x ]

and try it out with:
camstream
xawtv [don't work with this webcam...]
www.mercury.to :D
amsn ;)
etc....

 is offline
