Works great, no problems so far. Very nice little device.
Just mount the second partition and run gtkpod. You can also put a script into the gtkpod startup file, but I haven't tried that. Take a look at the gtkpod README for full instructions: http://www.gtkpod.org/README Gtkpod is a bit light on user-side howtos, but it's not hard to figure out by trial and error.
The only caveat, as stated on the gtkpod page, is to run file-->make ipod directories the first time you try to access the device.
Also, there are some posts online about the device refusing to let you disconnect -- try using "eject" (e.g., "eject /dev/sda" - eject is in the bin package, in Slack). This has worked for me so far without problems, but make sure to give it a long time to unmount before physically disconnecting (it can take over a minute on my machine...)
