HP 1410 printing requires:

1. 1400 series PPD (cups driver)
2. installing the PPD file.

Get the file:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/ppd-o-matic.cgi?driver=hpijs&printer=HP-PSC_1400&show=0

install using the command:
cp HP-PSC_1400-hpijs.ppd /usr/share/cups/model

now restart cups (common unix printing system) and using KDE->Settings->peripherals->printers->Add new Printer class we could work with HP 1410.

The print quality is excellent.

Suse comes with an older version of HPLIP that didn't support the PSC 1410. Configuring as a 1310 got printing only to work. After going to the HP site and downloading the latest HPLIP, all works well. The driver install is a little envolved but HP has excellent instructions tailored to specific major distribution. This is an excellent value.

I'm very glad to inform that Scanning works with HP PSC 1410 here :) I LOVE HP !!!

installing the HPLIP (hplip) drivers for both cups and sane (scanner access now easy) works like charm.

I just scanned with 1410.
