Kernel (uname -r):
Distribution: fedora 4

I installed Fedora 4 on my Dell Inspiron 8600 and had no problems. The only thing that does not work is the Dell TrueMobile wireless card. The Ethernet port works fine, so I have not bothered with getting the wireless card working.

All I had to do was set the BIOS to boot from a CD/DVD drive. I then inserted the Fedora 4 DVD in the DVD drive, rebooted, chose the automatic partioning option, and in a few minutes this lap top was flawlessly runing Fedora 4 Linux.

I love it. Suse dual boots and it rocks everything works (but the ATI card). I have 1 GB RAM and 60GB 7200rpm HD. Would have given 10 but as said before ATI card doesn't work :( I wish I had Nvidia

Installed the Linspire 5-O, everything worked fine. Even my Dell 1300 wireless card was recognized the first time. The only minor one is I can't set my wireless mouse to left hand.

I've had an Inspiron 8600 as dual boot for 1 yr. The only problem I've had is the microphone is not recognized. Everything else works fine and dandy.
