This is a printer which is partially compatible with the Z43/Z42 drivers. With z42tool and letter size: if the document printed is too wide (e.g. with output of xpdf) the printer will print garbage pages. Only about 95% of a letter-sized page will actually print. With gimp-print Z43 from Mandrake 9.0: Cyan and magenta colors are swapped. It is probably necessary to set up a filter to handle these idiosyncracies.
The Z54 prints full-resolution with gimp-print, as far as I know. Z54SE is apparently capable of a resolution which is beyond gimp-print's capabilities, but this may have changed. There is some information about this printer at linux-printing.org.
