I've managed to get this laptop to work successfully with many distributions, and I'm currently posting this from it via an ethernet connection to my router! I have used SUSE 9.1 Professional, Fedora Core 2 & 3, Knoppix, and Ubuntu on this laptop and they have all worked smoothly. I had some trouble configuring my cd drive in Fedora Core, but then again, I think that Fedora is a load of ****. :D
* Known to work: Video card, sound card, ethernet, USB, all other ports, CD-RW/DVD drive, PCMCIA, etc...
* Untried: Modem, inbuilt network card (mine is broken!).
Would you recommend the product? yes | Price you paid? (in USD): $900.00 | Rating: 9
Kernel (uname -r):
2.6.10-5-386
Distribution:
Ubuntu
Everything worked pretty darn well, except that I can't try out the inbuilt ethernet card (because it's broken). I haven't tried the modem either, so I'm not too sure about that, but everything else from the sound right down to the USB ports all work!
