Behaves as external SCSI DVD-ROM. Detected as /dev/sr0 and /dev/sg0. Mounts Read-Only as /dev/sr0. Discs must be finalised before they can be mounted or accessed.

Using DVD-RW results in all files being saved as one long mpeg file. DVD-R has discrete mpeg files for each take.

It's actually faster to remove dvd and put it in a DVD-ROM drive to get files if you have one.

DVDs can be viewed as DVDs using mplayer or xine, or extract mpeg files and edit using avidemux.

Not yet tried to write to DVDs using growisofs but should be possible.
