Description: This is an all-in-one product from hp. Printer, scanner and copier. The lower end of the range for these all-in-one products. It uses one black and white and one colour cartridge (product codes hp28, hp56 or hp57). The software is designed for windows or mac but there are now linux versions of it which work well. ie the hp printer toolbox allowing you to clean the cartridges and align them. Very simple and easy to use. Also a very cost effective printer.

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.11.6
Distribution: mandiva 2005: slackware 10.1

Under mandriva this was a doddle. The printer requires hplip but mandriva automatically sets it up if its plugged in and turned on when you start up. It also automatically sets up xsane so basically it all works out of the box. I noticed that you also now get the hp toolbox allowing you to clean and align the cartridges so all of the software that comes with this printer and which will only run under windows or mac is now available for linux and works just as well if not better. As with most things Linux once its set up it works very well.

I'm also using this with Slackware 10.1 and so far I've only got the printer to run using hpijs which is automatically installed via localhost:631. When I sort the scanner out I will update.

After installing Mandriva Free 2006, HardDrake found my PSC 1110 USB printer without any problems and configured the HPPSC1110 driver automatically.

Once installed, I launched XSane, which also detected the scanner portion of the printer.

I was very pleased with Mandriva's capabilities at properly detecting and configuring this HP All-in-one printer/scanner device.
