Description: Firewire AV to DV external capture box.

Works with Ubuntu Hoary Hedgehog 5.3, with Ubuntu stock kernel 2.6.10 using Kino. The device needs to be set up according to its instruction manual as if being used for MacOS X. Presumably, it will also work with Debian, since Ubuntu is esentially Debian. The supplier I bought it from is called Synchrotech, and the price was 199$ in Feb. 2005

Also can be used to watch your DV camera on TV.

It is a DV-AV/AV-DV converter that can work standalone or by hooking to a PC via firewire.

It worked in Kino with the devices dip switch set up like for MacOS according to the included instructions.

In LiVes I did not manage to get it to work.

The product does not advertise itself as compatible for Linux, only
MacOS X and Windows.
