Description:
|
Hi,
Modem works ok.
Please see Modemdata below (about 30 lines).
What I can add to Modemdata :
- The softmodem is part of the motherboard with a Tiny PC, "quite popular in the UK", (Pentium III 800 MHz), year 1999.
- I installed the slmodem package coming with the distro Mandrake 10.1 (no compilation needed)
as root
# insmod or modprob usr/lib..../slamr
# slmodem --countrylist
# slmodemd --country=myCountry /dev/slamr0 &
#ln -s /dev/modem /dev/ttySL0
- experienced easier life with wvdial than Kppp, but both works.
In Kppp a 50 ms parameter had to be increased to 52 for kppp to be able to connect (weird)
Just one small problem left: root has full acces to the net via mozilla.
Users can connect to the ISP and ping the ISP but that is all. Hosts cannot be found
when the connection is started by users. Will need to read more to understand why.
(reported in a different thread)
Regards

There are the following routes toward support:
Follow instructions in Modem/SoftModem.txt for identifying the modem under a Microsoft boot.
Information on several modem chipset providers is provided below,
because ambiguities remain on the correct choice of supporting software.

A PCMCIA CardBus is not detected on this System.
For information on modem port creation under the UDEV device file system see:

The following information blocks just query some ppp support items.

The following ppp related modules should be unpacked by root with:
