Work perfectly.
A little slow to load compare to other card.

Note : This model have 68pins connector external and BOTH 68pins/50pins connectors internal. Only 2 out of three can work at the same time of course.

Sorry, Mr. Describer, whoever you are. You've confused two cards.

The Adaptec AHA-2940 UW (the one described) is NOTrepeat NOT a LVD controller. It canNOT handle LVD-based protocols like SCSI-3 and higher. It is limited to SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 ("Ultra Wide") devices, period.

The Adaptec controller that does handle LVD/SE devices is the AHA-2940 U2W, which is an entirely different product. I own one of those also, but I'll wait for you guys to get the descriptions straight before I review it.

Now, for the product review of the 2940 UW: :)

I'm on my third one of these: my server machine runs 24x7x365. I acquired my first one in 1997, to replace a fried AHA-1540. It was much more expensive then ... around $150, I seem to recall.

My first 2940 UW fried itself (my disks turn my server case into a pizza oven ... frying PCBs is to be expected) within 4 years, and I replaced it with another new 2940 UW at a somewhat lower price (around $90, I recall). This second one finally fried a couple of weeks ago (late November 2005), and I replaced it with a used one. It is impossible to find new AHA 2940 UW any longer. If you buy one, it will be a pull/refurb. I got this last one for about $30, s+h included. While it works very well, it was a pull from a Dell system, and the 50-pin SCSI-1 interface hardly works at all.

These controllers are highly adaptable to any kind of system you wish to run: all the way from Windoze (eww) to OS/2 to BSD to Linux. However, if you get one, you're on your own unless you wanna pay for support from Adaptec. They've been out of production so long that in-warranty support simply isn't possible any more.
