I purchased an H320 a couple of months ago, and would highly recommend it for someone who wants to carry their entire CD collection around. Linux treats the device as a USB hard drive, so you can use whatever software tools you want for managing music files & play lists. A couple of minor caveats when using it with a linux PC:
First, the bundled software obviously doesn't work, so you'll need an additional tool to create the music database if you want to browse by album, artist, & title. I've been using irivdb-py, and it works just fine even though it was written for a different series of iRiver players.
Second, play list files have to be in DOS format; ie as opposed to /, and rn as an end of line character as oppsed to n. A simple Perl script does the trick.
Finally, on my Suse 9.2 system the device is detected and automatically mounted under the /media directory. However, I haven't been able to find a way to unmount it with nautilus, and it doesn't usually unmount automatically when nautilus exits. You'll have to use the command line.
