Needed to download PPD from Linuxprinting.org and manually configure printer PTAL (hpoj) interface per SuSE instructions at:
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/end/2002/05/ke_hp-officejet.html.
Other than that it works well printing color and black & white. I suspect that compatility may be better with HP's new and current inkjet printer interface application HPILS, but no SuSE package available for that yet.
