Description: I'm runnng 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 on a VIA 82xxx chipset. SCSI support is enabled, as are USB 2.0 and 1.1.
I've been unable to mount my camera using the SCSI device method. I checked and rechecked everything, but to no avail.
Finally, I took another look at the output of "cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" and noticed that the driver is "ub"
Code:

T: Bus=04 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0686 ProdID=401a Rev= 0.01
S: Manufacturer=MINOLTA
S: Product=DIMAGE CAMERA
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 0mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=08(stor.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=ub <--------------------------------
E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=84(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
I: If#= 0 Alt= 1 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=ub
E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=82(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=32ms
E: Ad=84(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms

So I poked around and looked at /proc/devices. "ub" was listed as a block device
Code:

Block devices:
1 ramdisk
2 fd
3 ide0
7 loop
8 sd
22 ide1
65 sd
66 sd
67 sd
68 sd
69 sd
70 sd
71 sd
128 sd
129 sd
130 sd
131 sd
132 sd
133 sd
134 sd
135 sd
180 ub <------------------------------------------------------

So then I tried using "mount -t vfat /dev/uba1 /mnt/camera", and... Voila!, it works. I stumbled upon this solution, by the way.
Whew...
