Uses the snd-emu10k1 kernel module. I build it into the kernel (2.6.* series), and leave out the alsa-drivers package. The actual lspci on my box is:
Code:
03:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04)
03:0b.1 Input device controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy MIDI/Game port (rev 04)
03:0b.2 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Creative Labs SB Audigy FireWire Port (rev 04)
I use the firewire connector for my ipod, never tried the ir port, though the alsa page for this driver says it doesn't work.
Does have some hissing if I have the mixer settings up too high, but that could be my speakers (Logitech Z-5300)

Hey, can you help me with this sound card?????????

I have one, but there is no sound, when "sarge" start tell me: "Errorwhile initializing the sound driver: can't set requested fragments settings"
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Then I change the parameters and "Tada"... the same error :-( .....

ALSA does not work fine...

Works with Alsa v1.0.9a. I also got the IR receiver to work using the Lirc 0.7.2 package from Packman. The lirc package even came with a config file for the remote that came with the sound card.

I had to use the alsamixer to configure my mic since KMix wasn't seeing it. The command to use is "alsamixer -V all."

Here are some links that helped in setting up the remote.

I forgot to mention that the HOWTO in gentoo-wiki.com has a guide specifically for the Audigy 2 Platinum.

Works good and the sound is soooooo rich and full. Impressed the heck out of me. Glad to see the way to get the Ir remote working. Been going around in circles on that one.

While alsa covers almost everything, it seems that OSS gave the fullest sound, but does not cover all the other features. And it is gett harder to find oss support and software.

I had no problem getting it to work. Just compiled kernel the module and it worked from the start.
