Description: This is a very cheap Wireless LAN USB adapter made by Taiwanese manufacturer Edimax.

Looking on their website, they appear to offer Linux drivers for some of their products, but unfortunately not this one.

It comes with a Windoze utility called 'ZyDas' on the CD-ROM.

I'm still trying to figure out its chipset...

Kernel (uname -r): 2.6.4-52-default
Distribution: SuSE 9.1 Personal

Well, it probably is compatible... I just haven't got it working yet. SuSE Personal doesn't make it easy - I need to recompile the kernel I think to make it work, I don't have the kernel sources, and of course my setup means I have to connect to the internet via the network adaptor...

So I need the 'net for the NIC, but I need the NIC for the 'net. Great.

At the moment I'm having to cart files back and forth on my digital camera, because SuSE 9.1 isn't compatible with my USB mass storage device, either.

I hope you'll sympathise when I tell you that I've simply been ignoring the problem for a couple of weeks, and using my main computer (which connects via wires) instead.

There ARE drivers out there: I've seen them. I just haven't worked up the courage to face the challenge of installing them yet.
