Description: This is the Epson Perfection 2480 photo.
Usb, adaptator for 35mm films.
Work well with sane, xsane. Edit you're /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf to add the usb dev. and give the path to the firmware.
You can find the firmware on the windows cd given in the box. To extract the firmware mount the cd and then :
find . -name "*.cab" -exec cabextract -l {} 2>/dev/null ; | grep -B 10 Esfw
to locate the file, and then :
cabextract -F Esfw* -p ./ESCAN/ModUsd.cab >~/Esfw41.bin
to extract. (i stole from : http://www.bot.unibas.ch/~pascal/epson2480.html .)
The only problem i have is : freeze of xsane when i try to scan at maximum, 2400 dpi. Known trouble while i'm writing, should be soon fixed.
Really Nice quality for text, images, negative 35mm.
Not expensive at all for this quality. !! (paid it 99 €)
