I originally only rated it a 5 because there was only a print driver available.
Since then, I've written a scanner driver for it.

See http://ca.geocities.com/freshshelf@rogers.com/install_x1185.html for instructions on installing the Lexmark print driver.

The scanner driver is available. It can be downloaded from here:
http://ca.geocities.com/freshshelf@rogers.com/scanner_driver/download.html

The driver has been tested with scanimage, xscanimage, and xsane.

It is capable of grayscale, or colour scans and supports the following resolutions:
75x75, 150x150, 300x300, 600x600, 600x1200

The scan size can be selected from the following:
Wallet, 3x5, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, Letter

I have the latest version of cups, but when installing it says I need new version of cups.

Quote:
tmp # rpm -if z600cups-1.0-1.i386.rpm

error: Failed dependencies:
cups >= 1:1.1.15-10 is needed by z600cups-1.0-1

chmod +x z600cups-1.0-1.i386.rpm fixed the conflict with cups for me. Also, make sure you enter these following commands to get it running right after the rpm is installed.

Code:
$ ldconfig
$ gunzip /usr/share/cups/model/Lexmark-Z600-lxz600cj-cups.ppd.gz
$ /etc/rc.d/init.d/cups restart
$ cd /usr/lib/cups/backend
$ ./z600 # To verify backend works
Output should be similar to this

Code:
direct z600:/dev/usb/lp0 "Lexmark Lexmark X1100 Series" "Lexmark Printer"
