Description:

I had this printer set up in Mandrake 9 before with an rpm that worked great. Packet didn't help on with the comp I switched it to. It's running Mandrake 10.1 OE. Just plugged it in, went to harddrake, and set it as an HL-5040. It did not work as a generic PCL for some reason but this way I can use toner setting. Working great now, saves alot of money over inkjets, my mom is on ebay, she prints out dozens of things a day. Have not replaced the toner cartridge yet for the 3 months we have had it.

I just purchased this printer to replace an aging Lexmark Optra Rt+ that I used with HP Laserjet 4+ driver. Just unplugged the old one, plugged in the new one and everything works perfectly. No need to change drivers!

Works without any problems with Linux. Driver selection was straight-forward.
