This is a PTP Camera.
Requires gphoto2, tested with gtkam and digikam

Package versions used - libexif 0.6.11, libgphoto2-2.1.5, gphoto2-2.1.5, gtkam-0.1.12 and digikam-0.7.1-beta2

With a correctly configured hotplug/usbcam setup, plugging in the camera into the USB cable results in digikam auto-running, managing pics is a snap.

There is a bug in the user detection script supplied with digikam, a fix is well documented by LQ member /bin/bash. See the the review of the EasyShare DX4530 Zoom Digital Camera for details.

Good camera for the price. (On sale at CompUSA.)
I bought this to replace a dead SiPix SC3300, 3.3MP.
Worked immediately in digikam in SUSE 9.3
The SiPix camera was much less proprietary. It used USB mass storage and recorded the movies in a more playable format. The Kodak camera requires an application like digikam and the movies require Quicktime.
The Kodak camera's pictures are much better and the controls and menus are easiser to work and navigate.
I am using a 512 SD card.
The documentation recomends using Lithium batteries and states alkaline batteries are not recommended or suported.
