It was quite tricky to get Linux on it, since I had to use Floppys and that isn't really the way to install an OS. During installation, it crashed many times - it's kind of a design problem, since it's cooled only passively, so you only get stability after loading a proper APM-Kernel (I used 2.2-compact since the 2.4 didn't work for some reason). With the 2.6.9 I use it's somewhat stable.
The APM shows strange values about power left, which is most likely the case due to the age of the battery.

Wondering about bios-hdd-capacity limit?
yeah, it has one... but set the hdd detection to auto, and join me in having an old sub-notebook with 80GB of storage. The linux-kernel somehow gets around the Bad bios-Design.
Sound works, FB in Konsole works... almost every function of the notebook I've found in the pretty complete manual is usable, pcmcia slot tested with eth, cd-rom and wlan (ath)
I've read about a limit of 160mb total, so I'm not sure - a good friend of mine has exactly the same one and told me about a limit, but maybe I got him wrong.
To take the lb apart is quite a trick process - but with some time, a screwdriver and good finger nails anyone experienced with pcs should be able to handle it.
